Karen has a stellar educational background, in addition to her breath and depth of experience.

Karen graduated from the Montclair Kimberley Academy (“MKA”), having had several months rotational internship at a veterinary hospital. While at MKA, she was on the synchronized swimming team.

Attorney Vanderhoof-Forschner has her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology from Muskingum University. While there, she had a 1-month rotational Internship at Waterman Memorial Hospital (Autopsy, Blood Bank, Emergency Room, Obstetrics, and Nursing), was on the synchronized swimming team, and was a DJ on the College Radio Station.

She earned her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) degree from The American College of Financial Services and her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Property & Casualty Underwriters, Inc. She then received her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut.

In an effort to learn more about healthcare law after starting the LDF, she earned her Juris Doctor cum laude w/ Honors in Healthcare Law from Quinnipiac University School of Law. While there she received several scholarships and multiple Achievement Awards, was an Associate Editor on the Health Law Journal, a Chief Justice of the Judiciary Counsel, a member of The International Legal Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi, Burns Inn, and interned at the CT Attorney General’s Office. She immediately entered The University of Connecticut, School of Law and earned her advanced Masters in Law (LLM) in Insurance Law. During that program she spent time in London studying the insurance market syndicates. e.g. Lloyd’s of London (reinsurer), Catlin Group (insurer), Marsh UK (broker), Equitas (reinsurer), UK Financial Services Authority (regulatory), KPMG (accounting), and DAC Beachcroft, LLP (legal). While obtaining her LLM, she interned in Regulatory Affairs at Aetna Insurance. She is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and The Supreme Court of the United States.

Karen received her honorary doctorate [Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL)] from Muskingum University. Then, she earned her Mediation Certificate from UCONN School of Law & Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Most recently she completed a BioEthics Program at the Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics.
